All are invited to join us for an afternoon of American Mahjong. It is a fascinating tile game that shares its roots with Chinese Mahjong but has evolved into its distinct game. It is especially popular in the US and Canada. Players use a card which lists dozens of hands and every player works towards completing one of the hands exactly as shown on the card. It gives the brain a good workout.  Come and see the action and if this game interests you, lessons can be provided. All equipment is supplied.

The game of Canasta was invented in Uruguay in the late 1930s and it spread rapidly through North America. Throughout the 1950s it became a social phenomenon throughout Canada. It is said that there are over 1000 ways of playing Canasta so 2 years ago a group of enthusiasts met and came up with a set of rules to play Canasta in the Summerland Community Centre. 
 
Come join us every Thursday evening and enjoy the game of Canasta. All equipment is supplied and players are willing to help you learn the game and rules.
