It is our great honour to host a concert with the lovely and talented vocalist and songwriter Anna Jacyszyn at the Summerland Community Centre on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 7PM.
Anna does not shy away from opportunity. This year alone, she has been on a film set for six different movie productions including A Vineyard Christmas (2023), The Way to the Heart (2022), Love for Starters (2022), to name a few. She hosts a television chat show for Shaw/Rogers called “Whattaya Say, With Anna J”, writes a weekly arts column for The Penticton Herald and Kelowna Daily Courier called Artafact. Anna combines both acting and singing by working with Actors Studio with her most recent, highly acclaimed role as Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “noir musical” Sunset Boulevard. She is very excited to announce that in the summer of 2024 she will reprise her role as Donna, the lead character, in the highly anticipated musical, Mamma Mia! to be performed at Kelowna Community Theatre.
Anna’s musical journey, however, began at a young age, captivated by the melodies and lyrics she found in jazz, blues, and soul. That passion led her into an exploration of the music business in London, England. After many years of living abroad this hometown Kelowna girl finds inspiration from the extraordinary beauty of her surroundings and the natural poetry of nature, and longing to be loved.
Anna founded Jazz Café Kelowna upon arriving back to her hometown and still to this day has a strong relationship with her original musicians Loni Moger on guitar and Summerland’s very own Stefan Bienz on upright bass.
Guitarist Loni Moger is an educator, sound engineer and producer, and performs with various other groups as well as his own trio. A talented and versatile musician, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music studying Guitar, Voice and Music Arrangement. When he was based in Calgary, Loni performed alongside international artists including “Bo Didley”, San Francisco’s “Tuck and Patti”, “Senator Tommy Banks” as well as local Calgary favorites “The Swinging Bovines”, “Karl Roth” and former host CBC radio’s “Tonic”, Tim Tamashiro.
Stefan began his musical journey inspired by legends Milt Hinton and Ray Brown. Working as an accomplished bassist gives this musician an all-access pass to many musical adventures. “I try to stay open minded and will play with almost anyone in any style, provided they are friendly” say Bienz. Stefan has accompanied many other high profile entertainers within the Okanagan such as the Crossly Crawford group and the Justin Glibbery quintet. He has also supported many traveling and international groups when they have needed a “local-hire” musician. Stefan is a staple at Penticton’s Dream Cafe and is the darling of most first call musicians.
This dynamic Trio loves to push boundaries and create musical craftsmanship injecting energy, love and entertainment to each concert they perform on. Do not miss the opportunity to witness them shine! Tickets will be available one month prior to the concert.
