SUMMARY:A Man Named Sue - the music of Johnny Cash and Other Outlaws
DESCRIPTION:Coming up on Friday\, October 16\, at 7PM with inspiration from the music of the legendary Johnny Cash will be A Man Named Sue\, who will perform “The Songs of Johnny Cash and Other Outlaws.” \nA Man Named Sue (his preferred handle) graduated from Summerland Senior Secondary – eventually – quipping that he tended to be “a bit of a career high school student.”  He began his musical journey in the early 90’s\, playing professionally with Top 40 bands\, a couple of punk rock bands\, and a Kiss tribute\, to name few.  He later developed a keen passion for Johnny Cash’s music. \nHe first performed as A Man Named Sue at the Rutland May Day celebration in 2009.  Since then\, he has been very active performing his favourite collection of songs.  Sue has played all over the Pacific Northwest\, Alberta\, and even Puerto Vallarta at various festivals and in night clubs\, at times sharing the stage with other diverse and unique acts. \nSue is a one-man-band with a full sound. He proudly claims his act is about 70% Cash\, which includes a collection of Cash’s lesser well-known songs.  He rounds out the program with the songs of Willie\, Waylon\, Merle tunes\, plus a little rock and roll at the end.  He delivers it all with high energy\, a splash of cheeky humor\, his steel string guitar and a booming voice. Expect to hear some “hard\, dirty\, Outlaw Country music.” \nLast time Sue played at the Centre\, it was to a pleasantly crowded room.  So – yas best c’mon down\, y’all hear?!  Git yer tickets at Artisans of the Okanagan for $20 “Cash” (!) or $15 for SCCA members starting one month prior to the show.  Rush seating will be available for Cash at cafe-style tables of eight. There will be a Cash bar for wine and beer and a 50/50 draw. \nWe are working towards a new digital ticketing system\, so “stay tuned.”

SUMMARY:James Hay Blues Band
DESCRIPTION:James Hay’s blues journey began on the road in the mid‑90s touring with travelling bands such as the Ole Johnson Blues Band\, Northwest Boogie\, and Zydeco North. Those early years helped to shape his sound — a mix of gritty blues\, rootsy groove\, and the kind of stage presence that only comes from playing night after night in front of a live audience. \nWith his growing reputation\, James became a sought‑after sideman\, sharing the stage with well‑known Canadian blues artists including Jack de Keyzer\, Sherman Doucette\, and Poppa Dawg. Working alongside musicians of that calibre sharpened his craft and deepened his love for the blues tradition. \nWhether he’s performing solo or with one of his bands\, James delivers a show rooted in authenticity\, musicianship\, and a lifelong passion for the blues. \nWhat to expect from the James Hay Blues Band?  Well\, just a hard-driving\, swampy\, delta slide-blues-jump-jive-swing and boogie sound!  James Hay rocks on guitar and vocals.  “Boogie Man” Blue Rooney is at the bottom end on bass.  PJ “Like the Pyjamas” Hermann drives the rhythm on drums. \nThe group plays a blend of original blues tunes as well as selections of vintage and modern blues favourites.  They cover tunes by Muddy Waters\, Howlin’ Wolf\, B.B.
