Coming to the Summerland Community Centre on Friday, September 22, is Patsy Cline tribute artist, Judy Rowe. Judy has a voice of gold, whose talent as a singer and songwriter has been an inspiration for many musicians and fans. Her incredible versatility allows her to croon with the best of them or belt out the rockin’ tunes from pop to blues to country. As a published songwriter, some of Judy’s songs got air time on radio stations across Canada. She was the lead singer and manager of a band called “Sugar Moon” and “Reckless Hearts” for a number of years and has opened shows for artists such as Rick Tippe, Farmer’s Daughter, and Doug & the Slugs.
Pasty Cline has been Judy’s main inspiration. Patsy’s style bordered between country and pop. She was the first female artist to step out of the boundaries and really change the course of country music. She became the most popular female vocalist in the world with a powerful and compassionate vocal style all her own.
Judy has performed as a Patsy Cline tribute artist over the past several years. “Patsy Cline has been my idol since I was a little girl listening to the radio,” she says. As a young girl, “I dreamed to be a singer just like Patsy, to be able to reach out and grab your heart. I feel honoured to be able to play a part in ensuring her life and music will never be forgotten.”
Judy’s show, “Patsy Cline, Up Close and Personal”, is a story, a timeline woven with Patsy’s songs, showing her inspirations and her transition from country to rock music right up to the time of her tragic death in a plane crash at the young age thirty.
