In Remembrance: Songs That Got Us Through WW2

August 19 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

This musical event will be quite unique in its focus and is something we’ve been looking forward to. “In Remembrance: Songs That Got Us Through WW2” is a beautifully put-together show that speaks for itself. In these troubled times with significant wars going on, it’s as important, or perhaps more important than ever, to remember those who lived through similar times.

Anyone who has attended any performances of Sax Among Friends led by Don Wade knows that he is a natural storyteller. He draws from his font of knowledge and experiences, peppering the stories with lighthearted humour.

His talented entourage features renowned local chanteuse, Yanti, Mel “Elevenfingers” Zachary with his easy, breezy style of playing the keys, Summerland’s own Graham Walker sliding his nimble fingers on the bass, and “He’s everywhere, he’s everywhere” Mr. Drumsticks himself, Rod Rose.

Coupled with Don’s often whimsical style of storytelling, be also prepared to be enchanted by Yanti’s evocative style and have your heartstrings tugged by the beautiful melodies and memories the WW2 songs brought to our culture.  Don’t miss this unique show!

Tickets for this event are $20, $15 for SCCA members, and will go on sale at Artisans of the Okanagan.  Meanwhile, you may reserve them by email transfer to summerlandcommunitycentre@gmail.com.
